What practitioners need to know.

Centacare Emerald invites you: to participate in this insightful one day training with Dr. Brian Sullivan. He can provide you training in the following areas:

  • Working with men presenting as victims
  • Determining the predominant aggressor when there are cross applications
  • Women’s use of force
  • Men’s accounts of their violence

If you have struggled with the following questions then this training is for you:

  • Are males and females equally as violent as each other?
  • Are females equally likely to be domestic violence perpetrators/respondents of DV?
  • How can we know who is the predominant aggressor?
  • How can we keep victims safe and hold offenders accountable?

D rBrian Sullivan

About your presenter: Dr. Brian Sullivan is a lecturer in the School of Social Work and Human Services at The University of Queensland, St. Lucia. He teaches in the Master of Counselling program which he designed and developed and coordinates a course on Violence Issues in Counselling. With his colleague Betty Taylor, he cofounded the TAVAN Institute to provide training for those who are working with victims and perpetrators of domestic and family violence. His research includes collaborative community responses to domestic violence and interventions with court-ordered male perpetrators. Brian’s research looks at the experiences of and the effects on human service workers working with domestic violence survivors and/0r perpetrators. Brian in contracted by Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs, Minnesota (DAIP) to present the DULUTH Curriculum facilitator training in Australia.

Cost includes morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and refreshments.
