Centacare invites you: to participate in this insightful workshop to learn how to identify and contain a crisis utilising proven Defusing and Debriefing techniques.

What is Critical Incident Stress Management? Critical Incident Stress Management provides support to assist the recovery of normal individuals experiencing normal distress following exposure to abnormal events. It is based on a series of comprehensive and confidential strategies that aim to minimise any adverse emotional reaction the person may have.

Critical incident stress management strategies in the workplace include:

  • Preparing workers for a possible critical incident in the workplace
  • Defusing (immediate small group support)
  • Debriefing (powerful event group support)
  • Follow-up support.
  • Identifying, tracking and managing compassion fatigue

Who should attend: Counsellors, Support workers, Psychologists, Case Managers, Nurses, Administrative personnel, Workplace Health and Safety Representatives, HR consultants and support staff.

About your presenter:
Alex Collins is a qualified Professional Counsellor and Trainer. Alex began her trajectory as Centacare Mackay Manager in September 2006, a qualified Counselling Psychologist (USA), Professional Counsellor (Aus) and Trainer- Alex has over nine years of experience as an individual and couple counsellor specialising in Rational Emotive Therapy, Gestalt, Jungian Psychoanalysis and Psychopharmacology.

One of Alex’s passions is training and professional development, as a Qualified Mental Heath First Aid Educator Alex has delivered over 15, six hour courses since  2007 and has also written and presented sessions on Counselling Skills, Psychoneuroimmunology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Victim Behaviour and Trauma and Narrative Therapy.
