News Archive30 June 2010 Seniors get Broadband Access at Centacare Bundaberg Centacare Bundaberg has officially opened a free Broadband for Seniors Kiosk to service the local senior’s community.
18 January 2010 Reactivate Launched Reactivate, a skills-matching database, is an initiative of Centacare and was launched recently to engage and connect baby boomers to potential employers. Reactivate is an online tool developed to assist employers within the health and social services sector to make contact and recruit job seeking baby boomers.

The humble Chive Flower (Allium Schoenoprasum) was
chosen to illustrate the role of Centacare: Catholic Diocese of
Rockhampton. With a history dating back 5000 years and its healing and
protection properties, the nourishing chive flower reflects the service’s
commitment to supporting and empowering our community. 15 July 2009 Centacare Participates in Productivity Commission Inquiry Discussions
Centacare recently participated in discussions into the current Productivity Commission Inquiry, alongside QCOSS Sector Development Worker and regional member of the Future's Forum Sandy Paton. The Commission is to undertake a commissioned study into the contributions of the not-for-profit sector.
09 July 2009 Juwarki Opening during NAIDOC Week
A celebration amidst dancing, speeches, smoke and applause marked the official opening of Juwarki Kapu-Lug Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Corporation (Juwarki). Fr Hayes was among the many attending Juwarki's opening ceremony, continuing his lifelong dedication to supporting and working alongside the region's Indigenous population.
24 June 2009 CQU Appointment for FRC's Sue Rice
Rockhampton Family Relationship Centre's Dr Sue Rice has been appointed as an Adjunct Research Fellow at CQUniversity's International Program of Psycho-Social Health Research (IPP-SHR). The research project seeks to explore psycho-social health issues within AIDS populations at the RCCC.

The Domestic Violence Service of Central Queensland (DVSOCQ)
had a great response to their Red Dust Healing Information Day held recently. The Red Dust Healing program supports the rebuilding and
healing of families and communities through restoration of Indigenous identity,
responsibility and relationships.

Candle Lighting Ceremony 2009
Domestic Violence Service of Central Queensland (DVSOCQ) held a
candle lighting ceremony on Wednesday 6 May to raise awareness for
Domestic Violence Month. On dusk, over 100 people gathered at
Emerald Botanic Gardens’ bush chapel in tribute to the 76 women who
lose their lives at the hands of an intimate partner.

Domestic Violence Service of Central Queensland (DVSOCQ) has been
recognised with a State Government Community Organisation Award for its
art activism project – Airing Out Dirty Laundry.

In 2009, The Emerald Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month aims to: Raise community awareness about the existence of domestic and family violence in the community; Encourage
Queenslanders to challenge their level of acceptance of domestic and
family violence and see it as a problem belonging to the whole
community; Provide information about how to prevent domestic and family violence; Provide
information about avenues of assistance and referral options for people
who are affected by domestic and family violence; and Take the message to as many people in Queensland as possible. 5 Mar 2009 Centacare Delivering Free Drought Sessions
Centacare are playing a large role to drought affected areas by providing free information and support sessions.
The sessions will be delivered by education and counselling staff, along with a Centrelink Financial Services representative.
